Lonesome Shack

Lonesome Shack
More Primitive

Alive Naturalsound Records (0159-2)

By Georgetown Fats
October 2014

Having been released in May 2014, this review is long overdue.

Lonesome Shack, a power trio of gritty raw blues out of Seattle, just makes musical sense.

Springing from the birthplace of grunge music, Lonesome Shack manage to play a North Mississippi Hill Country blues far more Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside than The Black Keys or the North Mississippi All-Stars.

It takes a city with a strong music scene to foster a LowFi/non-commercial sound.

Ten tracks of raw musical intensity, More Primitive, Lonesome Shack’s fourth release on Alive Naturalsound Records, provide a plethora of danceable grooves for the shoe-gazing crowd. Be sure to check out Ben Todd’s musical vehicle now before Todd, drummer Kristian Garrard and bassist Luke Bergman become the next big thing.
